Hi there!
My name is Dawn Chapman. I run Little Tykes Dog Hub Dog Day Care Services.
I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse with 24 years in practice experience which included training students to qualification level. I have completed a Diploma in Canine Behaviour, I am a Qualified Puppy Instructor, a Pet Health Nutritionist, and a Qualified Mantrailing Instructor. I never stop studying to improve our service and I am currently working through the Puppy Lab Science Course with the School of Canine Science.
I love dogs! With 30 years’ experience working with dogs professionally and my whole life living with them.
I live with 6-year-old, (Zebbie), who is a deaf and partially sighted Long Haired Miniature Dachshund. Zebbie’s personality definitely makes up for his lack of stature “he thinks he’s a big dog”. I originally planned to take on a dog that could help me get involved with Search and Rescue work but Zebz had other ideas,
and we have now become part of the UK Mantrailing community, which involves lots of outdoor fun, working in teams and more importantly enjoying working in partnership with our dogs.
My previous dogs have included a spaniel cross, greyhound cross saluki, GSD cross Staffie and Labradors, all of whom have exposed me to working with complex behaviour problems. This early experience started me on my journey into studying dog behaviour. Eric (otherwise known as Banana Man), posed the biggest challenge. His behaviours that posed the most challenging were also the ones that brought us together and allowed us to have some amazing adventures camping and hiking.
I also live with a permanently grumpy feline who hates dogs but tolerates both Zebz and I as long as he gets fed on time!
My abilities to foster always fail, because non of them ever moved out….!
When I am not talking about or working with dogs or Mantrailing most weekends, I love reading mainly Sci Fi, I like cooking but mainly because I love eating. DIY is something I love to attempt, many projects have been so much fun and look nothing like the original plan. The world of Netflix is amazing and I have no idea what I did before with my spare time.
