Doggy Day Care at Little Tykes Dog Hub

What is Doggy Day Care?

Doggy day care is not dog boarding, we don’t look after dogs overnight or on weekends. Little Tykes Dog Hub is a safe place for your puppy or dog to come and spend time during the day having fun, chilling, and playing with other like-minded dogs while owners are either working, busy or just need some relaxing time without having to organise a walk or entertainment for their dog.

It is so nice that the dogs get to have company, play with friends, toys, equipment and have cuddles, with guidance to ensure they are safe and happy during their stay.  They are always happy to go home for the evening with their puppy parents (owners) and put their paws up and relax after a busy day.

Day Care for dogs was relatively new to the UK 5 years ago, now there are many styles of provider that offer different environments and experiences for each dog to enjoy.  Some dogs prefer outside paddock style, others prefer inside dry and non-muddy places.  Some dogs prefer to hang out with small dogs, and some prefer to hang out with big bouncy dogs.  Each dog is unique in their preference, here at Little Tykes Dog Hub we always put the dog’s preferences and needs above all else and we will advise you accordingly once we have assessed your four-legged family member. We offer Free assessments by appointment.

What Do Our Dogs Do While At Little Tykes Dog Hub Day Care?

Our dogs get to hang out with other dogs, they can choose to play with each other, they can play with a variety of toys individually or share them with their doggy friends.

They can snuggle and relax together in our snooze zone with sofas and blankets to cuddle into or choose to take themselves into a separate area to rest.

They have access to our large hall with thick rubber flooring to prevent injuries.

They have access to our outside garden area with equipment to climb on, sunbathe and dig in.

They can cuddle and play with a human if that is what they prefer to do.

Day Care dogs are reminded and taught how to be respectful using kind, reward-based training methods.

Snacks brought from home are provided for each individual dog separately and nutritional sensitivities are always respected.

Not Sure Whether Dog Day Care is Suitable for Your Dog?

Different day cares offer different environments for different sizes, play styles and personalities of dogs. Every dog is different in how they view this.

If your dog is social and respectful of other dogs, a day care can provide a brilliant outlet for your dog’s mental and physical enrichment so when you get home after a busy day your dog is happy to chill out with you too.

If you are unsure if your dog is compatible or suitable please ask and Dawn can advise you accordingly after assessment.

Individual puppies are welcome as soon as they have had their first vaccinations to get them started and blend them into our group. Pups need a varying degree of guidance in how they interact and learn from the older dogs.

One on one attention is available to allow them to feel safe, grow in confidence and be calm around other dogs. We tailor the experience for each pup.  Nearly 85% of the pups that have started with us have either remained as regular attendees or they have adapted easily into other day cares.

What Age Can My Dog Join Little Tykes Dog Hub Day Care

8 – 14 weeks old is the easiest time to integrate a puppy into a group of dogs for short periods little and often.

15 weeks up to 6 months old, most pups integrate very well at this age, and some require more individual attention for longer to help them assimilate.  Personality, playstyle and learned behaviours impact how easily and quickly they can relax and be accepted by a group.

Between 6mth and older, new unneutered males are not admitted. Male dogs aged 6 months up to 2 years have a much lower rate of being accepted by a new group of dogs, particularly if they are not skilled in listening and responding to other dogs’ social cues. Our Training Services can help your dog/puppy learn to act appropriately around other dogs. All females in this age group are welcome to be assessed provided they are not in season.

Over 2 years and above.  Providing they are dog social and respectful and love spending time with other dogs they are all welcome to join us.

Can My Dog Attend If They Are Not Castrated or Spayed?

Each dog is assessed on an individual basis.  All dogs are required to be respectful of each other, regardless of whether or not they are castrated or spayed.

Females cannot attend our unit whilst in season.
